Purebred Meishan Boar, Sow & 4 piglets - $225 (Fort White)

I am reducing the breeding pigs. The pair is actually registered Meishan but I cut the tags out of their ears so I don't think that they can be transferred. I raise them for slaughter, not for breeding sales. I am retaining another pair. Meishan meat is red, like beef, and the flavor is so good! They are a medium size pig and are good in confinement or pasture. I feed fruit and veggies plus a little pellet feed. I do not like fat pigs. The old Swine text books will say that muscle is grown for the first 150 pounds and after that fat is added, so my ideal slaughter weight is about 200 pounds. Meishan meat should be cooked so that a light pink line is left, after that the tender meat is becoming dry, so do not over-cook. The Meishan disposition is more docile than most domestic breeds. Meishan Pigs are a great choice for anyone who wants home-grown meat!.
